Biography
The Front Hump Camels are a southern rock band from the “South side” of the Ferrara Delta, with a markedly electric sound. Their musical journey is rooted in the typical sounds of southern rock and blues, enriched by a wise dose of British influences, creating a mix full of energy and passion.
The Front Hump Camels embody the spirit of the American South, recalling the period in which the roots of “Black” music intertwined with those of the “Yankees”, giving life to the Southern Rock genre. Each song is a cross-section of lived life, a story that transports the listener to a distant America, yet so close for anyone who feels attracted to life “on the road”.
Story

The band was born in 2017 without the singer and counts 4 musicians: Alessandro Zecchi (guitar), Michele Cacciari (nicknamed Baia, on bass), Emanuele Sicolo (guitar), Luigi Esposito (drums).
During the winter ’17 / ’18, after trying several voices, they completed the line-up with Luca Vincenzi (voice and guitar). They did their first live in June 2018 with 5 or 6 songs at the Rocca di Cento. At the end of the winter 2018 there is the first change of guard and at the voice enters Luca Bettoli (Betto). In the summer 2019 Zecchi and Bettoli wrote the song “Into the Mist” for the friends Lowlanders MC of Modena who will perform it live precisely as guests of the latter in 2020. In the spring of this year the bases of the songs “Save Me” and “Holy Dreamcatcher” were born, the latter included in their first album “South Side” of 2023. In those years (’20, ’21, ’22) the band worked on their own songs until in 2022 the drummer left the band.

In January 2023, with a post on social media the Front Hump Camels announced the name of the new drummer: Marco “Drum” Galasso. The new arrival also brings with him the “6th Little Camel”, the son Davide “Dado” Galasso, who took position at percussion. The renewed line-up thus began to work hard to develop the 9 songs that would compose the first album. Marco and Davide, coming from other musical genres, added new sounds to the “Camels” style and together with bassist Baia gave life to a precise and pressing rhythmic background. In May 2023 they entered the studio (Studio Parak) and began recording the album that would be released in October 2023. South Side received good success from the public and critics. Gianni Del Savio spoke enthusiastically about it on Roots Highways, as well as Antonio Spanò Greco on Off Topic. On their YouTube channel they published several live shows and the video of the song “My Mama Told Me”, entirely self-produced by the band. A nice friendship was born with a couple of German radios (Indy Radio e Sixtym Radio) that for a few months broadcast FHC songs.

The band immediately got to work locking themselves in the rehearsal room to create a musical base for the lyrics already written by the prolific Betto. Reliable sources talk about songs like “Falls”, “It’s About To Rain” and the already mentioned “Save Me”. Meanwhile, on July 29, 2025, the vinyl record of the album South Side will be released. In October of the same year, two overseas radio stations aired some of the band’s songs. Canada and Tennessee thus became part of the “FHC world.” For this, the Camels owe special thanks to Eric Lussier (CGCM Rock Radio) e Travis James (Cygnus Radio)
First album: South Side

On May 13, 2023 the band began recording the album at the studio of Angelo Paracchini in Pieve di Cento. The project “SOUTH SIDE” availed itself of the collaboration of several artists, including friend Enrico Cipollini, well-known folk-blues guitarist and songwriter from Ferrara, who contributed with his experience in the field of music production. Blood, dust, tears and roughness mix in an intertwining of misdeeds, bravado, memories and impossible loves in this first album, which includes nine unreleased songs.

Among these stands out “Into the Mist”, written specifically for the friends Lowlanders MC of Modena.
Numerous musical collaborations enriched the band’s sound: Andrea Poltronieri on saxophone, the Big Solidal Band Horns (brass) and Gabriele Guidetti on harmonica contributed to making the atmosphere of the album even more intense and vibrant. The album had a fair success, selling physical and digital copies in almost the whole world. The release of the vinyl record, dated July 29, is the fulfillment of a dream that the band had been nurturing for some time.

Live
The first public event dates back to 2018 and counts few songs. Gradually the band introduced more and more covers into the repertoire (ZZ Top, Allman Brother, The Black Crowes, etc.) until 2023 when they could afford to perform also their own songs included in the first album.
Among the most important live performances we remember the presentation of the album “South Side” at the Library in Ferrara.
Also from 2024 we find the participation of FHC at the music festival RockAFE together with the band SB Project and with the extraordinary participation of
Maestro Roberto Formignani with whom the group performed a beautiful “Soulshine” (Allman Brothers Band) that sees endless guitar solos exchanges between Zeck (Zecchi) and the Maestro.
Also exciting was the evening at the String Theory Music Fest in Lendinara, on June 29, 2024 of which there is a beautiful video memory on the band’s YouTube channel.
We have to wait until November 14, 2024 to hear the Front Hump Camels perform the songs of the album in a totally acoustic version, guests of Alessio Ragazzi in his SPARIAMOCI 2 DISCHI.
